Our Story

The Beginning

At the Table Worship began as a worship project  initiated by the Lord.  One beautiful Sunday morning in April 2022, I went on a bike ride with the intention of connecting with the Lord.  Encouraged by my wife, Brenda, I decided to listen to Jonathan and Melissa Helser’s new album, which I hadn’t experienced yet.  As I listened to the song, ‘I am Your Beloved,’ I began to cry.  The Lord touched me so deeply and invited me to do a project with a similar heart to what the Helser’s had done.  I understood this meant approaching it in an organic, family oriented and relational way, with the primary focus being His presence.

The Team

During the bike ride, the Lord highlighted four faces representing four families whom I was to invite  to be a part of it.  I texted them right away and shared with them what the Lord had showed me.  Almost immediately, they all expressed their eagerness to be a part of the project.  The Lord spoke to invite these people and to do the recording on Ross and Audra’s land.  The four families were Ross and Audra Raines, Danny and Amy Frishmuth, Nathan and Dene Pinkerton, and Brenda and myself.

First Worship Time Together

Shortly after that encounter, those of us who were able gathered in their living room for a time of worship and seeking His heart.  Each of us brought songs we had written in communion with the Lord, and prophetically sang songs we were receiving.  His presence was very tangible in the Raines’ living room that night.  As we worshipped, the theme of ‘His Table’ emerged.  In fact, Audra even titled the recording of that initial night, ‘At the Table.’

The following day, when I arrived at the office, I shared the story of the night with Danny, who had been unable to attend.  As I recounted the night, I used the phrase ‘At the Table.’  He was astonished and shared that while he was in the shower that morning, the Lord had spoken the phrase ‘At the Table’ to him.  We were both amazed at what the Lord had done to orchestrate all of this.

Vision Unfolding

During the next gatherings, the glory of the Lord was tangibly present.  We were all overwhelmed by the prophetic flow as we ate together, fellowshipped, and worshipped each time on the Raines’ property.  The Lord began to impart His vision for the project to all of us.  He led us to schedule it on October 10 and 11th during the Feast of Tabernacles 2022.  He impressed upon us to set up a tent in a field on the Raines’ property, with a table in the center, surrounded by musicians and worshippers.  The tent represented how the Jewish people set up tents during the Feast of Tabernacles to remember their time in the wilderness after being freed.  The table represented communion, lavished worship, Him preparing a table for us in the presence of our enemies, and intimate fellowship between the Bride and her King.

For two nights we were to worship Him with original and prophetic songs He had given us.  We spent some time fasting and praying about which musicians, intercessors, dancers, audiographers, and videographers to invite.  To our amazement, almost everyone we approached were available and were excited to participate.  We recognized that God’s hand was orchestrating this project far beyond our own efforts.

We gathered most of the team for several nights in the living room to worship, go through some of the songs, and fellowship together.  Purity and intimacy were extremely tangible as we all worshipped and enjoyed the Lord together.  We did everything just acoustically in the living room and didn’t actually set up to play as a band over a system until the nights of the recording.  We felt Him say to not strive or perform, but to give Him pure worship.

Make a Record to Have a Record

The Lord spoke to us to make a record (album) so we would have a record (documentation) of all that God was doing in our lives at this point in time.  He revealed that one of the main purposes of this project is legacy, so that our children and their children would remember what God was doing in their parents and grandparents lives years from now.

Nights of Recording

The two nights we recorded stand out as some of the most cherished worship experiences I've ever been a part of. It unfolded effortlessly, with each person taking the lead at various moments in vocal, musical, or prophetic expression. We would worship for awhile, then break to eat and fellowship, then continue worshipping. Truly, we gathered around His table. We worshiped late into the night on both days, and upon concluding the final night, we were all overwhelmed by His goodness, faithfulness, love, and manifest presence

At the Table Ministry Revelation

In April of 2023, a year after the Lord gave the revelation about doing the project, He began to speak about At the Table being a ministry.  While on a trip to a beautiful beach to celebrate our 27th wedding anniversary, I had a vision of the Lord out on the water behind a table and His hands were beckoning me to come join Him.  I realized He was inviting me to birth At the Table Ministries with Him.  Brenda and I have given our yes to the Lord to birth this ministry and He is continuing to give us vision which is daily unfolding.
